The progression to settle the issues Province 2 has retarded as the provincial assembly meeting was postponed with notice until the next weekend.
The Government has been examining over moving a proposal in Provincial Assembly to settle the issues of name and headquarters of the province.
Saroj Kumar Yadav, Province 2 Provincial Assembly Speaker has said that a parliamentary committee would be formed to achieve consensus among all the political parties. He has opined that a provision could be made for the committee to undertake the task within a month and can also take help from experts who are specialized in various sectors.
Shatrudhan Mahato, NCP lawmaker has said that the political parties would reach consensus in a few months. The Province 2 had already made an appeal to political parties to file in their recommendation on name and headquarters of the Province within 22nd August.
The lawmakers from Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari and Sarlahi districts agreed with the proposed ‘Mithila’ as the name of the province. Similarly, lawmakers from Bhojpur, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa have also agreed with the name. Yadav has expressed that as long as the Samajwadi Party and the RJP-N insist on the proposed ‘Madhes Pradesh’ there will not be any difficulty to achieve consensus among the parties.
