Bidya Bhandari, President will visit the Republic of the Union of Myanmar from October 16 to 20 at the request of the President of Myanmar U Win Myint, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
While the visit, President Bhandari will conduct mutual talks with the Myanmar president. Bhandari will meet the people of Myanmar of Nepali origin in Pyin Oo Lyin. She is also listed to visit Bagan, a UNESCO world heritage site, as per a press announcement circulated by the MoFA on Monday.
Highly-placed specialists stated President Bhandari will travel to Japan from Myanmar on October 20 to accompany the coronation and enthronement ceremony of Japan’s new monarch on October 22.
Sources stated President Bhandari is attending Japan at the invitation of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito who had announced to withdraw the throne. He walked down from the throne on April 30, 2019.
Likewise, Prime Minister KP Oli is also leaving to visit the 18th Summit of Non-Aligned Movement being conducted in Baku of Azerbaijan on October 25-26, sources at MoFA stated.
Foreign Ministerial Meeting of the NAM is programmed for October 23-24, and the Foreign Secretary-level conference will be conducted on October 21-22. Nepal will be considering the chair of the NAM movement for the following three years later the 18th Convention.
