Nepal’s Parliament Sanctions Budget for Fiscal Year 2019/20

The House of Members (HoR) on Friday endorsed the budget for the fiscal year 2019/20 with most of the votes.

A meeting of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament has supported three bills associated with the budget – Financial Bill, Nationwide Debt Recovery Bill, and Debt and Guarantee Bill.

All these three bills depend on the Appropriation Bill -2019/20 (the annual approximations of the income and expenses of the government) which was previously endorsed by the House.

Refusing 29 amendment plans registered by the opposition party and lawmakers, the Lower House endorsed the budget document.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was also within the House meeting today.

The endorsement has unveiled the way to make income or spend on different titles for the government in the next fiscal year.

Minister for Finance Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada had presented the plan in the meeting seeking the endorsement of the bills.

Dr. Khatiwada had presented the yearly budget for the next fiscal year on May 29. Thereafter, lawmakers debated on the bills and budget programs.

In the budget conversation session of the federal parliament, nearly all of the lawmakers from the ruling Nepal Communist Party had appreciated the government for improving the allowance of elderly citizens, salaries of bureaucrats and other programs.
