The match among Nepal and Kuwait following the second round of Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2022 will be not carried at Dasharath Stadium following the objection of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
As per the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Nepal and Kuwait will play at a neutral venue following the AFC’s direction to host the match in a different venue. The AFC has pointed out that Dasharath Stadium does not reach the international standards to host such big football tournaments.
Earlier, AFC representatives examined the stadium on Tuesday. ANFA has also suggested FIFA and AFC both to carry the games in Bhutan, as per the press report issued by ANFA on Thursday.
According to the schedule, Nepal will have to host Kuwait on November 19. Subsequently playing all the away games, Nepal has to host the home matches. It is presently in the fourth position in Group B with three points from four games.
Australia heads the table with nine points from three games, Jordan and Kuwait, both playing three games individually, have seven and four points respectively. Chinese Taipei, the only opponent Nepal has defeated, has no points thus far.
