On Friday, Nepal U-19 cricket team has experienced a five-wicket loss against team Sri Lanka under D/L system while the opening encounter of ACC U-19 Asia Cup held at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka finished the chase of 159 runs set by Nepal in 33.4 overs to register a healthy win.
Wicket-keeper batsman Kameel Mishara filed a match-winning half-century scoring 55 runs starting the batting for the winning team. Mishara cracked three boundaries and two sixes during his 62-ball stay.
Middle-order batsman Ahan Wickramasinghe cut with a brisk 30 runs off 36 balls which comprised two boundaries to support Sri Lanka collects two points in the opening switch. Both shared a partnership of 60 runs off 62 balls for the third wicket.
Similarly, skipper Nipun Dhananjaya Perera gave 18 runs off 31 deliveries while the chase. Avishka Tharindu tarried unbeaten on 25 runs off 44 balls to ensure the success. Both batsmen shared a combination of 40 runs off 67 deliveries.
Pace bowler Rashid Khan was the most flourishing bowler for the visiting side picking two wickets in his 6.4 overs in the match conceding 21 runs off it. He removed the Sri Lankan openers including Mishara. Moreover, Pawan Sarraf, Kamal Singh Airee and Sagar Dhakal shared a wicket each.
Nepal had earlier won the toss and chose to bat first in the deferred start due to wet situations. The event was decreased to 42 overs per side match.
Opening batsman Rit Gautam extended his conventional practice with the bat notching up his first milestone on the Test nation team. He scored steady 54 runs off 86 deliveries which included four boundaries.
On Sunday, Nepal will play against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take on the UAE while the second round of Group B fixtures.
