Nepal and China have agreed to intensify mutual assistance and interaction between law enforcement agencies of the two countries for sustaining peace and safety across the border.
As per the Nepal Embassy in Beijing, both countries agreed to a delegation-level talk between Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and State Councilor and Minister for Public Security of China Zhao Kezhi in Beijing on Monday.
Promotion of bilateral co-operation in public security, cross-border crime, capacity building, and border management was considered during the meeting.
This comes in the way of Nepali authorities banging down on a group of Chinese nationals implicated in crimes both in Nepal and other foreign countries even in China itself. A total of 122 Chinese nationals who were detained on December 23 and discharged Sunday are to be repatriated.
They were arrested at the behest of Chinese security officials. Two aircraft from China are programmed to arrive in Kathmandu on Wednesday to take them back, as per the immigration officials in Kathmandu.
Director General at the Department of Immigration Eshor Raj Paudel stated that the arrested will be deported to China after fining them Rs 1,000 each as ordered Sunday by the District Administration Office, Kathmandu.
A press statement published by the Nepali embassy in Beijing said the two leaders reaffirmed their involvement enhancing the mutually beneficial cooperation as agreed by the leaders of the two countries during the exchange of presidential visits in 2019.
