A meeting held by the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Dhankuta District Secretariat Committee has decided to strip party leaders and cadres of membership if they are found practicing caste discrimination.
A meeting which was chaired by Dhankuta party chair Rajendra Rai has taken a decision to this effect. The meeting has dwelt on incidents of caste discrimination and untouchability around various places of the district.
Party Secretary Rishiram Dhungana has said that NCP would sack leaders and cadres and will strip them of the party’s general membership if any of them found involved in discrimination. Lately, the eldest brother Govind Subedi and another brother Durga Prasad did not allow their younger brother Mukund Subedi, also an NCP member, from performing the death rituals after their father died because he had married a Dalit girl.
