In the 35th edition of the Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition that is starting from Friday in Greece, the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents is about to participate in it.
In association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 10 travel and tour agents from Nepal are engaging in the three-day-long event in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Conversing during a press meet arranged here today, the president of NATTA CN Pandey, said the representation of NATTA in Philoxenia Expo will be mainly focused on the publicity of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign.
He said while their major focus will be on promoting VNY 2020 campaign, this is a golden opportunity for them to promote Nepal among tourism stakeholders from Europe.
As Nepal is highlighting on high-end tourists for the development of the country’s tourism industry, NATTA and NTB anticipate this exhibition to play a vital role in publicizing Nepal in Europe.
According to Pandey, Nepal is participating in Philoxenia Expo — an annual event that has been carried for the last 30 years — for the first time.
He added the participation of Nepal in this exhibition is presumed to raise the number of tourists traveling to Nepal from Greece.
As per the Department of Immigration, around 100 tourists from Greece come to Nepal each month.
As per NATTA, about 600 exhibitors from 18 countries, including Cyprus, Egypt, Austria, Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Peru, Philippines, and Indonesia will be attending the event.
Moreover, about 180 international individual buyers will visit the tourism exhibition while another 125 will be participating as a group delegation from Bulgaria, Albania and former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). Besides, over 4,000 meetings connecting exhibitors and major tour operators from 36 countries have been scheduled.
