Coronavirus lockdown leads to increase in usage of world wide web

The COVID-19 fearis seen all over the world which has led to work from home due to the lockdown. The most trending hashtags on Twitter are #StayHome, #SelfQuarantine and #workingfromhome. As of January, Zoom, the video conferencing organisation has witnessed an increase of several new accounts and Microsoft’s Team says there has been a rise of remote conferencing.

From Monday following the semi-lockdown, Nepal has also noticed a big surge in home Internet use, establishing a pressure on the bandwidth given by service providers.

“Working from home is the right step to arrest the pandemic but people working from home are not using the Internet only to work and communicate,” states Keshav Nepal of WorldLink Nepal. He also says that 80% of Internet traffic is created by viewing video entertainment.
